Remington's first metallic cartridge handgun. Less than 1000 are believed to have been produced circa 1861-1862. The pepperbox features a 3 - 1/4" fluted 6-barrel cluster chambered in .22 Short with individual pin sights. Unlike later Remington-Elliot derringers, the whole barrel cluster rotated when the ring trigger is pulled. Grips are

PROVENANCE: From the advanced collection of the esteemed and respected Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Very good. Metal displays a silvery patina with traces of original blue, strong markings, and some surface frosting. Grips are very good with handling marks and one small chip on the right base. Bores have well-defined rifling with some black powder abrasion. Good mechanics.

 Description: Offered here is a Norwich production pepperbox with the barrel cluster marked "ALLEN & THURBER NORWICH C-T" and "PATENTED 1837 CAST-STEEL," floral scroll engraved frame, acid etched nipple shield, and "ALLENS PATEN" marked bar hammer. A German silver oval inlay is featured on each grip panel. The number "151" is stamped on the grip frame, hammer spring, trigger guard, both grips, and barrel cluster. The partitioned case contains a powder flask, lead balls, ramrod, and French paper cap tin. Condition: Fine. The barrel cluster retains 25% original blue finish in the protected areas with the remainder a smooth brown patina. 50% original case colors remain on the hammer. The remaining surfaces retain 40% original blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The engraving is crisp. The grip is also fine with minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with a cracked bottom, minor handling/storage marks, and typical high edge wear on the lining.

Description: Measuring 6 1/2 inches in the closed position, this pistol has an in-line percussion barrel in German silver positioned on top of a dual blade pocketknife. The knife blades (both spear point, 3 3/4 and 2 1/2 inches) bear the "NON*XLL/UNWIN&/RODGERS" address on the left ricasso. The barrel is stamped with a pair of "crossed 

  

Description: Measuring 6 1/2 inches in the closed position, this pistol has an in-line percussion barrel in German silver positioned on top of a dual blade pocketknife. The knife blades (both spear point, 3 3/4 and 2 1/2 inches) bear the "NON*XLL/UNWIN&/RODGERS" address on the left ricasso. The barrel is stamped with a pair of "crossed scepter" proofs, with a smooth vertical spur hammer and a folding trigger. A pair of horn panels cover the sides of the body, with a steel tweezer set slotted into the right panel (tightly fitted) and a German silver bullet mold on the left. A small, empty compartment is present in the butt. Provenance: The TTT Collection Rating Definition: Fine overall, the barrel and other German silver components remaining almost entirely bright while the primary blades show a faint shadow of the etched "Protector" motto, and other iron components show mostly a smooth grey patina with some scattered patches of light pitting. The grip scales are fine and have some scattered light handling marks and the right panel has a few moderate edge chips absent. Mechanically fine.
